DJ Cuppy’s New Song “Gelato” Featuring Zlatan – Is One Of 2019 Hottest Songs?

If there’s one female who serves us bangers repeatedly asides from Teni and Tiwa Savage in the industry, it is surprisingly DJ Cuppy.
Ever since her breakthrough single, “Green Light” with Tekno, she has amassed an audience which she satisfies with her collaborations with other artistes.
Yet, these singles are not without controversies. Often, these singles are always bashed, talked down and the recent one with Masterkraft and most recently with the trio of Ceeza Milli, Kwesi Arthur and Shaydee all led to calls for Cuppy to leave singing and concentrate on her DJ work.
Just in case you haven’t listened to the song, here’s a chance to now πŸ˜‰

Listen to “Gelato” below:-

But With Gelato, Should DJ Cuppy Quit Mainstream Singing?

Maybe, but Gelato has shown improvement in her craft. Her “school girl like” voice serves as the smoothening effect which bodies well with Zlatan‘s intensified rap flow. Her call and response with Zlatan is awesome at this point as they put out a good combination effort on this record.
Zlatan‘s added further gloss with his well-famed ad-libs “Ayi“, “Je omo” and credit has to go to P. Prime for the melody entrenched in this beat.
Overall, the chemistry of Cuppy and Zlatanon this record is what makes this track tick. The call and response technique between them, the way Zlatan laid his lyrics on this jam and most importantly Cuppy’s intro at the beginning will make any listener want to listen to the end.

Some People Said Gelato Is The Most Terrible Song So Far This Year

However, on the contrary, there has been controversies and mixed opinions on this record, with most social media enthusiasts calling it the worst record we’ve heard so far this year.
But if we’re to judge based on sound, layout, arrangement, and chemistry of these two acts since it’s a collaboration, this might be one of the best songs we’ve heard so far this year.
But what do you think?

BBNAIJA:- Checkout The Housemate That Are Up For Possible Eviction This Weekend

Seven Big Brother Naija, BBNaija housemates, have been selected for possible eviction this week.
The housemates were nominated after an arena game challenge between two groups, the Icons and Cruistopia.
They were told to fill up their team’s cup with a spoon. The team that filled the cup on time emerged winner.
NAIJALOADED recalls that Big brother divided the housemates into two groups sometime lastweek.
The ‘Cruistopia team’ were defeated during the challenge.
Elozonam, who won the veto power on Sunday was asked to save one housemate.
He, however, saved Venita and replaced him with Frodd from her team, ‘Cruistopia’.
Here are the housemates up for eviction: GedoniMikeDianeJackyeSeyiMercy, and Frodd.
They are all members of the Cruisetopia.

Wizkid Becomes The First African Artiste To Have Over 8 Million Listeners On Spotify

Wizkid is now the first African artiste to hit 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
You would recall that the Starboy had over 6 million listeners on Spotify just a few weeks ago making him the most streamed artiste on the platform.
However, following the release of hit songs like “Dis Love” and “I like” with Kojo Funds, the number of listeners has skyrocketed to 8 million listeners monthly.
With this achievement, Wizkid becomes first African to hit 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
He is currently ranked 434th in the world leaving his former position as the 496th. Wizkid is also the only African artist in the top 500 in the world.

[A Must Read] 7 Reasons Why Some Upcoming Artiste Will Forever Remain Upcoming

With my experience in the industry, let’s say about 8yrs wink what I’m about to write here is the truth, nothing but the truth.
As an up & coming artiste, if you are making these mistakes and you are not ready to make a U-turn, you will forever remain an upcoming artiste.
For the sake of those who are passionate about their craft, here is a list of things you should take note of if you wish to become a known and celebrated act.
NOTE:- Life is sweet at the Top πŸ˜‹ Ask Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, 2face, 9ice and the likes. They once went through hell but now everything has turn into a thing of the past. You can do the same.

1. Most Upcoming Artiste Do Not Make Proper Use Of Their Social Media Handle

As an upcoming artiste, your social media account is one of the easiest ways of communicating with your fans. You need to put content on it everyday.
If you are going to the toilet, take a picture. If you are going to the bar, do a little video. If you are buoyant enough, give away something tangible to your Fans, maybe Recharge cards someday.
Put enough Freestyle on your page, you never can tell who is gonna stumbled upon your page and will fall in love with your Freestyle. Your Social media page is your Album, get it loaded with enough interesting contents.

2. Most Upcoming Artiste Do Not Attend Shows

If you are an upcoming artiste and you are not attending shows, you will forever remain upcoming (Not a curse though but harsh reality).
I mean, get off that your lazy bed, attach yourself to a Blogger, beg them to help you activate some promotional packages that can change your life forever.
Another thing you could do is also to buy tickets to shows (regular). Find your way back stage, before they start the show proper, beg them to allow you do your thing. Record label owners, promoters are listening and if they can see the confidence in you and how the crowd accept your music, my brother, congratulations. Who knows, you might get signed and hit the jackpot.

3. Not Creating A Niche For Yourself In The Industry

As an upcoming artiste, you need to stop copying other people’s style of music. Stop copying other people’s beat, stop copying other people’s sound.
Create your own style, create your own pattern. Stand out! Stop jumping at every trending beats, stay on your own lane and do your thing.

4. Bad Mastering, Bad Mixing Of Your Song

This is also a contributing factor. Who will play your music when the whole production is whack?
There are so many upcoming artiste out there with good lyrical content but their production is poor and this in return makes the artiste sound local. No DJ would jam your song on radio if the production is poor.
Work with different music producers. The same producer that created the beat and recorded your voice should not be the same producer that will do the final mastering of your songs.
There are dedicated sound engineers and professionals that their job is just to mix and master (look for them).

5. Poor Lyrical Content, Bad Concept, Bad Voicing

Imagine a reggae singer trying to sing blues? The concept from the onset is not proper. What you have to do is to look for your vocal strength and work on it. Simple!!!
If you can sing blues very well, my brother, you are not needed in the rap game. Do your thing, express yourself lyrically. Sing about things your face, talk about your emotions. Sing about everything around you.
Your song can motivate some rich dudes when they are down and before you know it, they might start chasing your around with some bag full of $$$ πŸ˜‹

6. Not Wanting To Freestyle

Free styling is your selling point. At times people, fans want to hear you sing without musical instruments. Freestyle your songs, record a Crystal clear video of your freestyle. Upload on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook etc
You never can tell who will come across your freestyle. Wale Turner enjoyed this grace and one good thing about Nigerians is that they will surely be tempted to share your Freestyle Video on their page if it’s dope enough.
Instagram made Wale Turner, Destiny Boy, Ola dips and many Up & coming act currently getting the needed buzz to becoming a Superstar.

7. Be Your Own Sponsor (Get A Job & Fund Yourself)

This is the most bitter truth 99.9% of Upcoming artiste don’t want to hear but it’s actually the best..
I had the intention of making it No. 1 on this list but I had a feeling that you won’t want to read this because you try don’t want to hear the truth.
My brother, Nobody can see the big picture more than you. Promotion is the Key to winning in the Music industry and this requires a lot of Money if you want your content (Music or Video) to get the massive attentions to making it become a massive jam.
The average shelf life of Nigerian Track is 3 months, whether you are an upcoming or an already blown act, if you drop a Song in January and by April you are not working on something, you might lose relevancy and fade off.
In order to grown some Loyal fans, you must be willing to drop contents from time to time.. Now, you are able to get a good song, how do you Promote it?
Do you have to keep begging Family or Friends for Funds to Promote your Song every 3 Months? If you are lucky to get it this time, No assurance you will ever get from them again.
Why not get something doing so you can make money to push your song yourself without waiting for a Sponsor who doesn’t even have a knowledge about Music business.
The End!

We hope you gained one or two things from this Article?

Now, infuse what you just learn into your Music hustle and you will be amaze at the result you will get soon.
God bless you all πŸ™
Thank you.

[Advice To Upcoming Artistes] Your Bangers Will Always Fade Away, Do These To Remain Relevant

The greatest joy and fear of every artist is to blow and produce a song that will blow the minds of every listeners on the street.
They want to have that great feeling of “oh that’s my song there πŸ˜ƒ” but the big problem is that there is a big difference between Bangers and Hit songs.
Can you as the Listener differentiate between a Banger & a Hit song?
Well, as we have a Bangers & Hit Songs it in terms of the music itself, we also have it among artists. Those Bangers are the “Artistes with one hit wonders” while the Hit songs are the “Consistent Artistes” in the game.
There are so many bangers on the street that will surely fade away with time. Just imagine you buying a banger *Knockout during xmas*, it may be of different sound (1,2,3,4, and 5 sound), but one thing is certain they all fade away after making their noise, so also are artists and their songs.
You may produce over three mind blowing songs but it still doesn’t make you a big fish in the river yet.
WHY DO ARTISTS FIND IT HARD TO STAY RELEVANT AFTER THEIR FIRST BIG BREAK?
We have seen the likes of Flexy B (Umbele)Viktoh (Skibi Dat)Junior Boy (Irapada)Dremo (Ojere) struggling after dropping their first major bangers even though they are very much talented.
Why is this so?
Let’s swing into action…

1. They Are Not Creative Enough

There are artist who are not creative enough to stay long in the game because they can’t flow with the tides.
In the first instance they blow because at that point in time that was the tune and sound bursting people’s head but when it change, they find it hard to change and in turn they fade away.
When we talk of creativity, all the elements that make up good music have to come into place both the sound, style, lyrics, and so on.

2. They Try Too Hard To Convince The Crowd

The biggest problem after getting that big break is to not lose it afterwards and most artist try to hard to achieve that.
Instead of sticking with their style they jump into another boat because it is the one working at that moment and then they fumble and get lost from the minds of their fans.
Artist like Mr Eazi knows his strength and stick to it that’s why we still love him till date. I’m not saying its bad but it is always to early to change when you have not find your feet.

3. They Don’t Know Their Strength

Training is very important for every artist and that’s what most Nigerian artist lack.
They all think is all about going to the studio to make a song, music is more than that. If most artist know their strengths andweaknesses they will still be relevant today after getting their big break.
If you do well with Street song, stick to it. If your strength is doing song that Motivates people, go with it instead of switching to Party banging tune.

4. They Are Not Consistent

Artists make that big mistake of not doing an instant follow up song after hitting their first big song.
They get carried away when their major breakthrough song becomes very big that they get so lazy and pompous thinking the song will keep rocking for so long.
The sad truth is that the song grows more bigger and fans start expecting something more better in their next content but they majorly fail because of their laziness.
Kiss Daniel gave us Woju, then Shoye and then Laye, can you see that?
That should be the sequence and not what Flexy B did by giving us the Almighty Umbele and then one wack song as a Follow up, Bros you go run down.
One thing I admire now about Artist like Small doctor, Slim Case, Mr Real and others is that they know their sound and after giving you a good song they give you another one.
Consistency is key in staying longer in the game ask Wizkid, Olamide, Davido and the rest they will tell you how they do it.

5. Poor Management

An artist is as good as the people managing him or her. Even big artist are running away from their host company because of poor management what more of up and coming artist.
If an artist is not properly manage, they will surely lose their relevance in the industry.
After getting that big break managements should know that featuring the big namesin the industry will continue to keep that artist name and music relevant in the minds of listeners but they always fail to do this.
Kiss Daniel, Reekado Banks, Lil Kesh, Mayorkun, are still making waves today because of good management.

6. Some Lack The Mind, Courage, And Talent To Stay Relevant

Look at artists like Tekno and Runtownafter their release of Pana and Mad Over Yourespectively they are still waxing stronger because they know their strengths and they keep to it.
For those upcoming artistes, discover yourself so that after you produce a banger, you will not fade away too.
Continue to improve yourself.
The End!!!
